The best time to go on safari in Kenya largely depends on what kind of experience you want, but the most popular period is during the dry seasons, from June to October and January to February. During these months, wildlife viewing is at its best because animals gather around water sources and the vegetation is less dense, making it easier to spot the Big Five and other species across parks like the Maasai Mara and Amboseli. The weather is also generally sunny and pleasant, which makes game drives more comfortable and rewarding.

One of the most spectacular times to visit is between July and October, when the Great Migration takes place in the Maasai Mara. This is when millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross from Tanzania’s Serengeti into Kenya in search of greener pastures, creating dramatic river crossings and predator encounters. The wet seasons, from March to May and November to December, bring lush green landscapes and fewer tourists, offering a more peaceful and budget-friendly safari experience, though wildlife can be slightly harder to spot due to thicker vegetation.
